I have been a San Ramon resident for the past 10 years, with at least one child enrolled in the SRVUSD throughout. During this time, our school district has consistently received less funding per student than comparable school districts due to an arcane state formula. Recently, this formula was modified, somewhat mitigating the differential, but not solving the problem.
Based on statistics that I have been able to “cobble” together from various sources (but admit have not been totally vetted), if the SRVUSD just received the state average per student, the district would have about $15 million more for its annual budget. And interestingly, this is about the amount of money which currently is donated through school education funds and registration donations to provide our students with the education they deserve and have the right to expect
If re-elected, how do you intend to engage stakeholders on this issue to once and for all, fix this inequity?
Dear Mr. Pandell,
